| BIO:
Ankur got started in table-tennis when he saw professional players playing. He began at the India Community Center and has been coached by Shashin Shodhan and practices often with Praful Bhaidasna and Vickrum Chodri. He considers his coach Shashin to also be his favorite player to watch and he often assists Shashin in his coaching sessions of younger kids. His biggest table-tennis accomplishment was at the 2006 Golden State Open where he won the under 1500 and 1700 events and lost 11-9 in the fifth in the under 1900 quarterfinal. His rating jumped up by 500 points which is one of the biggest single-tournament rating increases in US tournament history. He won the Under 2000 event at the 4-star John Schneider Memorial Tournament in Los Angeles! He likes the intensity of the sport but wishes it was more popular in the US. Table-tennis is his favorite sport and plays video games for fun when he's not swinging at a little white ball. |
