BIO:
Beginning table-tennis at the age of 7 in Hong Kong, the table-tennis
world welcomed Horace Cheng. He grew up playing lots of table-tennis and
played 20 hours a week while in high school. Horace plays a very unique
style where his is as comfortable looping and attacking as he is defending
and lobbing. Table-tennis is shown frequently on TV in Hong Kong and the
2004 Olympic Silver Medalists in Men's Doubles are from Hong Kong and are
currently very famous there as a medal for the small country is a rare, very
rare, feat. Horace's biggest accomplishment is winning the Under 2100 rating
event at the 1993 US Nationals in Las Vegas, the same title won in 2005 by San Francisco's Kevin Phung. Horace loves the speed of
table-tennis and hopes various events like the Northern California Table
Tennis League will help make the sport more
popular. His favorite player is Jan-Ove Waldner, a player idolized by
countless millions around the world. Horace works as an IT manager at Kaiser
Pemanente today and enjoys going skiing in the wintertime.
