BIO:
Kock was never interested in table-tennis while growing up in China
though the sport is as popular as basketball in America. He really didn’t
pay much attention to table-tennis because he was too busy playing for his
high school basketball team. After he got out of high school he then started
to play badminton as he was one of the top players in his company. He
started to play table-tennis after he moved to America, the opposite of the
usual situation when Chinese players don't find places to play and stop
after moving here. He really got into table tennis at the age of 40 and ever
since then, he has not stopped playing. Table-tennis has become a part of
his daily routine and a major part of his life. Kock has won numerous
table-tennis rating titles around the Bay Area, his most memorable being in
the 2005 Sacramento Open when he won 1st place in the U-2250 event after
being down 2-0 in a best of five. Kock gives trouble to younger and quicker
table-tennis players as he is
very fit for his age and is able to "show up" younger basketball players at
Lincoln Square in Oakland as well. |
