BIO:

Mattias and Mattias.  Or that's what it seems.  Mattias has a twin brother who, along with his Dad, started playing table-tennis together at the age of 8.  Mattias, at the age of 11 or 12, was a promising talent for Sweden which is the only country outside of China to win a World Team Championship in the last 25 years.  However, at that age, he soon lost all motivation in the sport.  Mattias has beaten the Swedish National Champion under 15 year old right after he had won the national title.  Outside of that, he is always happy to beat his twin brother when he goes home to Sweden.  Right now, Mattias is focusing on helping develop the Berkeley club but spends a good amount of time back in Sweden.

Mattias had an interesting experience when he went to Uzbekistan to a small table-tennis club.  He played with a borrowed paddle against some younger kids and then was brought to the Soviet elite training camp to play the former nation's top player to whom he narrowly lost.  Mattias' favorite player is the one and only Jan-Ove Waldner because "he is still the best."
