BIO:

Players who have entered the US table-tennis scene in the past few years would likely not know who Michelle Do is.  However, if you played in the late nineties or in 2000, Michelle Do was a name that you must have heard of.  She was a member of the 1999 and 2000 World Championship Team, was 1999 US Women's Doubles National Champion, and made the 2000 US Olympic Team.  She was the youngest Olympian ever in our sport qualifying at the Olympic Trials at age 16 and participating in the Sydney Olympics at age 17.  She got a taste of celebrity as she was invited to the Regis and Kathy Lee morning show and was featured in Seventeen magazine.  After her Olympic goal was met, she focused on school and her serious training stopped.  She now has a bachelor's degree in combined science from Santa Clara University and is planning on attending a dental school in California.

How did her table-tennis adventures start and where did they take her?  At age 9, her brother Andrew and Dad played table-tennis as they learned from one of her Mom's friends.  Soon she joined in and in 1992, she was beginning the path of an Olympian.  Countless national titles later, Michelle has traveled to Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Japan, Sweden, Germany, Holland, Brazil, Canada, and of course, Australia for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.  She called the Opening Ceremonies the highlight of her Olympic experience and was "excited, nervous, and overjoyed" as she marched into the stadium with the US delegation.  She met famous athletes such as Serena Williams and Vince Carter in Sydney and watched a lot of other sports.  Her favorite players are Jan-Ove Waldner, Wang Nan, and Zhang Yining.  Waldner's name seems to come up quite a bit in these player bios when the player is stating his or her favorite player.  Former Olympic Bronze Medalist Jasna Reed is Michelle's best domestic win and her best international win was over a female player ranked #60 in the world at the Brazilian Open.

Now Michelle wants to have fun playing again and wants to continue playing.  She has met her main goal of being an Olympian already and now hopes playing table-tennis gives her some exercise and fun.  Biba of Killerspin has received a lot of publicity with her good looks while being called the "Anna Kournikova of table-tennis."  Despite coming from a family of four with a combined height of....uh...let's not mention it here...., Michelle has the good looks so shall we call her the "Anna Kournikova of Northern California Table Tennis?"
