| BIO:
Adding to the international flavor of this league, Parry learned how to play when he was living in his home country St. Lucia. He started with his family and friends and was in a fortunate situation where the top players practiced just down the street. He enrolled in a junior program there and kept at it until around 1990 when he moved to Toronto for school. After a brief comeback in 1997, Parry again began playing regularly in November 2005. He likes that table-tennis is a game for all ages but does not like the myriad of equipment choices confronting players today. His favorite player is Belarussian Vladimir Samsonov because of his smooth style but thinks all top players are fun to watch. Table-tennis is considered his favorite sport but he also enjoys music, movies, and reading. He used to play a lot of volleyball but it destroyed his left knee. His biggest recent accomplishment in table-tennis happened at this past 2006 Nationals when he won the Under 2000 rating event title and his rating crossed 2100. He is currently coached by Shashin Shodhan. Parry got his PhD in Computer Science from MIT and now mainly does research in parallel computing for numerical computations. Kyna Fong is likely the smartest female player in the league and is Parry likely the smartest male player? |
