BIO:

Spencer has risen very fast through the ranks and within four years, he has passed 2100 in rating.  He learned how to play at the SF Lawton club by watching elders play.  The late Patrick Chao and 3 coaches in Beijing, one who was formally with the national team, have helped Spencer along the way.  Arguably the least-known top Northern California player is likely Spencer but with his accelerated learning curve, will everyone in Northern California know him soon?  He defeated Freddie Gabriel in a league match. Despite being Caucasian, Spencer has a penchant for Chinese players and languages.  His favorite players are Cheng Yinghua, He Zhi Wen, Wang Tao, and Ma Lin and he speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese.  Impressive!

Spencer has played classical piano for 12 years and played ice hockey before as well.  He looks forward to playing players that he has never played before.   His favorite tournament is the US Nationals in Las Vegas and hopes to combine his language skills with business to have a solid job and raise a family.  It will be interesting to see Spencer's progress as only now are players starting to hear his name.
