| BIO:
After starting to play table-tennis at a Yosemite Camp with his father and elder brother, Tomas began a big part of his life. He started off by learning from his Dad and brother and started being coached by Masaaki Tajima in San Francisco. Although he considers basketball his favorite sport, his table-tennis adventures have not stopped since that Yosemite camp. He considers his biggest accomplishments to be winning two national titles at the 2004 US Nationals. His best win was against phenom Ariel Hsing in the under 1400 finals which gave him one of his two national titles. He nearly made the finals of the 13 and under boys singles at this past 2006 US Nationals but ended up losing 18-16 in the fifth in the semis against Alexander Yao after saving 9 match points! Now he currently takes private lessons from Shashin Shodhan and is coached by Dennis Davis and Stefan Feth in the Palo Alto junior program. Table-tennis keeps
him in good physical shape but he does not like the pressure to win all the
time and the time commitment necessary for training. Once at a
Concord Youth tournament, he entered a doubles event but his partner fell
sick and could not make it. He then partnered with Misha Kazantsev
and ended up winning the doubles title! His favorite player is
Gabriel Reder who is his practice partner and club friend. Tomas is
a USSF certified referee and enjoys playing basketball and soccer.
With numerous family members having attended the University of Michigan,
Tomas loves watching University of Michigan football games and went to the
2006 Rose Bowl against USC but does not remember the
score......or does not want to remember the score! |
